I have tried to download and run the self-extracting file several times now (yesterday and today), but each time I get a small error window reading:
An error 0 (00000000) has occured. Last performed operation was: spawning.
Will someone please help me with this? I’m not the only one having this problem.

No joy to be had with this one, either. Same error. Suggestions?

Try this in safe mode http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
Then reinstall from scratch.

Yes, it could be a previous installed Avast! version that is corrupt that is causing this problem.

WHoo-hoo! That worked. I wonder, though, if part of the problem could be that I was trying to install on my regular user account, and not as the Admin? (I don’t surf as Admin.) Because after the cleaning, when I went to install my upgraded version, I got a little message saying I didn’t have enough rights. Oops! Logging on as Admin, I had no problem. So I’d suggest to Gilad that he try installing as Admin, if he hasn’t already.
