Stolen Login Information (User Name & Password) from Avast

Hello,

I received an email yesterday asking for money for information accessed through my computer. I know this is a scam.

The problem is that the information that was presented indicates a user name and password that was only used when I registered for this forum in 2009. (I have records of every user name and password used for all accounts. I went through each one, and Avast’s forum is the only one that used the particular combination that was referenced.)

Did Avast have a data breach? Has anyone else received deceiving emails related to their user account here?

Jeff
