Stop scan report showing many items in tmp folder

Avast 17.4.2294/Win 10 Pro 1703
I run a custom scan daily at 7:00 pm. Occasionally – every several days – the report includes a large number of items (198 today) like the following:

c:\Users\Bob\AppData\Local\Temp\CFB17BB7-F3B0-4186-90C1-B7E77C21B5D3\MsiProvider.dll [E] The system cannot find the path specified (3)

I included c:\users\Bob\Local\temp on both exclusions lists (the Settings page and the Scan configuration). But it didn’t help.

The comment appears to be by Windows, not Avast but I don’t understand why Avast is interested in \temp.

How can I prevent this?

At first thought, I’d wager your custom scan is set to scan temporary files, and in this case they have been removed, either by routine system cleaning or a third-party cleaning program on the system?

There is no need to run a scan that often.

Eddy, running the scan less frequently will not address the problem.

mchain, nothing directly about temporary files but I found I had Hard Errors checked under Reports. Unchecked that and maybe that’ll fix the problem.

You can’t prevent it unless you set a exclusion for that folder which is not a smart thing to do.

Your AV have real time protection, meaning [b]evrything[/b] that goes on in your computer when on is scanned/monitored in realtime

This message usually mean the file is no longer there, and that may not be a surprise when located in a temp folder

This error message is usually gone if you reboot and scan again
