Good afternoon everyone.
Would first of all like to say that Avast is one of the best antivirus programs I have ever used and would just like to thank everyone who works on it and helps to keep it free.
For some reason it has stopped updating (automatically and manually), and in desperation, when I went to delete it, so as to try and reinstall it, Windows would not allow me.
I nearly missed this completely as you have posted this in the avast 4 server version (which I doubt you have), but curiosity got the better of me.
We thrive on information so we can help you unfortunately it is a little thin on the ground here.
What errors are you getting when the auto or manual update fails ?
When you say delete (I hate that word) do you mean you tried to uninstall avast ?
If not then the avast self-defence module designed to stop malware deleting/disabling it would have stopped you.
What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avast.setup internet access ?
If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual update, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.
Hi
It turns out it was the firewall. I managed to update it, so hopefully it will all go back to normal.
This isn’t actually my computer, AVAST! Runs perfectly on my own computer.
I’m grateful to your curiosity and I wish you all the best.
