Stopping Avast scan at Startup

I just installed Avast Home Edition and during the installation it asked if I would like to runa system scan at next start up. I click Yes. It has done its scan but now everytime I restart my system it Avast does another scan. How can I stop this from happening?

Have you really restarted multiple times?
When you schedule a boot-time scan, it’s performed only once - until you manually schedule it again.
What operating system do you use?

Yes, I installed avast yesterday (11/18/08) I allowed it to do it scan during the night while I was asleep. The following morning I restarted the system and avast tried to do another system scann at start-up. I press “esc” to stop scan I have looked in the Avast settings and see nothing about stoping it. I have restarded mulitple times since and it is still wanting to do a scan at every restart.

I am running XP sp3

I don’t know if by using the esc. key it doesn’t clear the request unless it completes. Igor would know.

However, the boot-time scan should be a one shot deal and when you set it, if you change your mind you can go in and select it again, this acts like a toggle switch, on/off. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, a memory scan will take place followed by the opening of the Simple User Interface, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’
Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.

Give it a try (don’t select OS restart when first scheduled, close everything and then go back in again and select again) and see if that gives the un-schedule option, see image of what happens on the second attempt to schedule.

If the boot time scan is still starting, please post the log file Avast4\DATA\log\aswBoot.log or send it to me by mail.
