Is there any way to stop potential infection warnings from popping up when I get my eMails in? I’m a subscriber to a lot of newsletters and eZines and every few seconds the warning pops up and no more eMails can be gathered until the message has been closed by me. I’d like to be able to disable these messages, especially as they’ve all been false alarms so far!
Mmm… You may go to Mail Shield settings and disable advanced heuristics there. Double-click at avast! icon in tray, press More in the bottom, choose Mail AV and go to Settings. There in heuristic settings you’ll have a checkbox that enables/disables checking for IFRAME tag. Uncheck it - and everything will be OK… until you receive an exploit letter using the vulnerability of this tag
What would be more helpful is what warmings/alerts you are getting and we can suggest a more detailed option, rather than a guess what might be causing the alert.
I too used to get a lot on newsletters and I didn’t suffer this problem. If it is the iFrame tag that is causing the heuristic Suspicious Message alert, then it might be possible to include the remote address in the Permitted URLs rather than delete the check completely lowering your protection. This however, is speculation on my part as you haven’t said exactly what the alert was.
