I am having a unique difficulty (from what I can find in the forums). Our current version of the Avast virus database sent two files (listed below) into quarantine. Both files are clean according to the most recent version of the Avast virus database and online scanners. Unfortunately, one, the other, or both of the files quarantined are required to update the Avast virus database, but naturally on access protection prevents them from being restored. Is there a way to stop the on access protection remotely using ADNM? Or perhaps there is a better way to fix my difficulty?
Here are the names of the files, with their location:
c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\setiface.ovr
c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\setiface.dll
Cheers!
P.S. This question is a continuation of this thread: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=28539.0. Since my question changed significantly, as well as the appropriate location, I thought it best to start a new thread.
They are two avast files… clean ones… very strange that they were detected as infected by avast itself.
Anyway, I think you could uninstall/install again to restore your avast installation.
About the remote question, well, I’ll let them to avast team experts… Sorry.
Ok, here’s how I disabled the standard shield so I could push those files to the remote computers and update Avast: Under “On Access Scanning Tasks” I changed the Default Resident Task to not include the standard shield, and then waited for it to take effect. After waiting, I copied the files manually to the remote computers (because restoring them from the chest didn’t work) and updated Avast.
I’m glad we got this one resolved! Thanks for all of your help, guys!
