I have Avast Internet Security and some time ago Safezone became unavailable. I was lead to believe it had been discontinued.
My Wife has Avast Pro and Safezone is still alive and working. She uses it every day.
What is going on here?
Your wife is obviously running an older version of Avast. 
It is always kept up to date, but has just come up for renewal, so that is probably it. I guess she will lose it when she renews in a week or so. She only has Pro so she can get Safezone, so without it she may as well go back to the free version. She buys online, but no bank accounts or similar critical activity.
