One customer, who’s network I support, reported an email problem after being prompted to restart their computers after Avast had run an update today. I’m not sure if anyone has run into this, but here’s what I ran into.
After avast had installed it’s updates, which I have it update the AV program on the first of each month, email on the customer’s exchange server stopped flowing through correctly. It was getting stuck in the “Message pending submission” queue. I did some digging on M$'s site and what I found is this article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/843545/en-us
While that article is for Exchange 2k3 with SP1, and the customer has SP2 installed, making the registry entries at the bottom corrected the problem, at least temporally anyways. I’d rather not leave it like this since making that change disables antivirus scanning of incoming email at the transport level.
Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution to it?
