Strange Problem with AIS

I was able to install Firefox without any warnings from AIS. Then when I went to remove it I received a pop up claiming that it was a suspicious program then a few minutes later another popup saying that there was NOT enough evidence to terminate it. My problems are as follows:

  1. Why did AIS not declare Firefox suspicious when I installed it?
  2. Since it did not find a problem when installing it, why when I remove it?
  3. Are suspicious programs therefore being permitted to be installed by AIS?
  4. This is time wasting and not a feature that seems to be working.

What was the file name and location ?

I rather doubt that it is the same file used to install firefox, so it wouldn’t have been active, when it becomes active then it is likely to be scanned.

Although you don’t say it this appears to be the autosandbox at work.

So Avast will permit you to install a program with a trojen or some other nasty? The location was c:\program files(x86)\Mozilla\Firefox

The other aspect is the file name which you haven’t stated.

When you installed firefox, you were doing so from an installation file, so whatever it is that is used during the uninstall phase is bound to be different.

So why when you remover it using add/remove programs would AIS tag it as suspicious? Firefox has been around for years and it should be known to Avast that it is NOT suspicious.

I have tried twice to explain that, obviously I have failed and you aren’t answering questions. Without information we aren’t able to even hazard a guess.
