strange web page

http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/www.google-analytics.com

I saw the website the scorecard is talking about website in the network shield while I was doing some configurations.
(it was last scanned webpage it wasn’t marked as infected)

Yet another piece of rubbish on the WOT scorecard system, do you actually know what google-analytics.com does ?

It is used to gather traffic stats for the site you are on that is using it, if you have concerns about google-analytics then in theory you should have concerns about the site using it. Guess what forum.avast.com uses it.

There is no way avast should consider the page infected.

As I said before don’t put blind faith in WOT, a whole nine people have commented, if google-analytics was the pariah claimed by some there would be thousands of comments.

Hi hello123,

Whenever for some reason or other you want google analytics blocked to track you, re:

or you could feed google for instance with bogus requests using the TrackMeNot extension for Firefox and Flock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3173
Protects users against search data profiling by issuing randomized queries to popular search-engines.

Ghostery 2.0.1

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9609

Is a Firefox add-on that will also deal with the webbugs,(Google Analytics included)plus show you those it has blocked/found on each page.

Looked like rubbish to me to but a reliable Wot user (hp hosts, he runs http://hosts-file.net )
Althought he rated it under other
his comment:
“Used for advert and or tracking purposes”

Hi hello123,

And this time he has the category right. Because that is what it is. And it is used on this very avast forum also as ga.js. Read what it is here: http://www.ghostery.com/apps/google_analytics
So it is a tracker,

polonus

Yes, it can be “Used for advert and or tracking purposes,” but by the site you are visiting and that isn’t the only purpose it is used, it provides traffic stats for site owners whilst a user is at a site, etc.
