It started when I install Opera when my memory start up was slow. Even after I remove Opera, my memory was too slow at start-up, Avast! and ZA start up slower than normal start-up cause I always see a red dot on avast! for a while and ZA icon wasn’t even appeard untill the red icon was gone and avast! shield was running. ??? Any ideas?
Try a registry cleaning program like CCleaner to clean out the registry.
Have you deleted all files in your windows prefetch folder?? Check to see if the
layout.ini file is there.
yes, P3T3bOnn is right. If you have no results, empty the temporary folder. If the result is the same, run “chkdsk /r”: this remedy has been useful for me when I had lost my sistray icon of winpatrol
Yeah the file is still there, should I remove it? Acually theres alot of stuff in the Windows perfetch folder.
I just found out that it only happens on restart, shut down and turn on manually will just delay the appearance.
Hi, FIXER! You know, the things in the prefetch folder are there only to speed up your download of the mostly used files and webpages. if the prefetch is too bigger, maybe it can be a problem because the memory waste alot of power to check for this cached files at system startup.
ADDED: empty prefetch don’t resolve your problem. Try to empty the Temp folder.
well it is 5.98 MB. That’s alot, maybe I should delete them all is that okay?
Yes, no problem. Be in peace of mind deleting the prefetch. remember to reboot…
check back after a reboot and you will find most of them back in the folder.
The only gain would be if you removed a prefetch file for a program you had uninstalled.
Yes, Connie: this is the reason why my suggestion of empty also the Temporary files: the same when we schedule a scanning at reboot with our Avast!
Nope, didn’t work, after rebooting, the avast! icon was remain red for a minute or two and ZA loaded too slow.
tried my previous suggestion: start → run → chkdsk /r → OK?
Kamulko yeppers Just wanted to make sure he knew they would be back
That was my first choice, didn’t work, only when I shut down my computer and turn it on manually, I don’t see the red dot on the icon, just dosn’t appear for a few seconds.
Open the Task Manager and check for the priority of the programs… what you see?
I hope you can tell me the location of Task Manager, I forgot where it is now.
at the same time you must push the keys ALT+CANC+DEL
You can create a shortcut on the desktop: open C:/ WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/TASKMGR.EXE (I don’t remember well the name: is a little green squared icon)
sorry for the interruption again
You can also right mouse click on the Task Bar and pick Task Manager
Connie, can you ask for this problem to one of your sweety bears? ;D We cannot repair this problem!
