streaming music online

This is my first time here and I do hope someone can help me on this tiny problem. I listen to my old radio station from NY that plays the oldies. I find that I have to shut down my avast to listen. If I don’t, there’s a pause of some sort and I am wondering how I can listen and not shut down my avast. Can someone please advise me on this? Thanks

Hi TampaParrot,

Try VLC media player, open NetworkStream under files, and cut and paste the link under advanced in the customize field, after you made that clean with backspace. Enjoy your music, here is a link you could try:

Hi Pol, I thank you for your reply, but it’s not windows media that is giving me the problem. This is the link I go to to listen online. www.wcbsfm.com. They have their web site and where it says, “listen live”, is where I go. I just hate to have to shut down my avast, just to listen to it. Any advise for me on that?

Hi TampaParrot,

I find no trouble listening to the online player there with Flash in my Flock browser.
Nice music by the way, download link clean according to DrWeb’s hyperlink av svcanner, no malware there.
Hi TampaParrat - What browser do you use? Is your host file blocking this site?
You could put it in avast’s exclusion list, but I think there is something else blocking you, can you post a hijackthis log with the latest version of hijackthis from here: http://www.spychecker.com/download/download_hijackthis.html

Post a logfile txt here, if it is too large for one posting divide it over more than one.

WCBS plays just fine. Brings back some memories from when we still lived there 20 years ago.

Try cleaning out all your internet temps. Your connection speed also has a lot to do with how well
you can listen to streaming stuff.

Hi, Bob. What a small world. I’m from Amityville Long Island. Been living in Tampa since 2002. I do clean out everything. Lets hope that will solve my problem. Thanks. :-*

Hi, Bob. What a small world. I'm from Amityville Long Island
Sure is I used to call Bashore L. I. home. :) Good luck

Good ole Bayshore. Not far from where I lived. I was last living in Copiague before I moved here to Tampa in 2002. Just take the LIRR and in 15 minutes or so, you were in Bayshore. :)… Have a good night and thanks for your help guys… :-*

Thanks, you to and welcome to the forum.

WCBS is great. Glad to find out about it. Been listening to some really good oldies. Thanks.
