I honestly never bother looking, I have no doubt it would be like watching an indicator, working, not, working, not, working. But every time someone raises this I just check the defs folder for streaming updates and so far today I have had 140 streaming updates since VPS 130625-0.
So I think it is working.

r-054-042-234-077.ff.avast.com is not connecting. Since VPS 13062501 update at 6:44 PM, I haven’t received a streaming update as of 7:45 PM.
Well as I was reading your post I checked the connection (not connected) I opened the defs folder and the streaming update sub folder and it started receiving some. There are times when I believe that the connection won’t be up as I don’t think it is up permanently, but that still allows for periodic connections to download them.
I now have 168 streaming updates on C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\13062500_stream, interestingly you mention you have VPS 13062501 update, which has now just kicked in. This removes the old 13062500_stream sub folder and I now have C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\13062501_stream with 49 streaming updates.
Streaming just kicked in at 9:25 PM and at 9:44 PM EST now have 60 streaming updates. For now, it’s back online.
