For the last couple of days I have noticed the streaming updates figures are at 0 for the last 24hrs), longer looking at Historic Data in the Stats section of avast. Checking the defs sub-folder confirms that the stats are correct as there are no streaming update sub-folder/s
Now that the auto Update Notification popup is no more supposedly because we get in the region of 100+ streaming updates. Problem happens when you aren’t getting any streaming and there is no reassurance of the old update notification popup or voice.
Weird – my history is showing 252 updates in the last 24 hrs, which seems to be in the same ballpark as in the past. And unless I’m hallucinating, I’m pretty sure I’m still getting the popups for “normal” updates.
Possibly it’s related to one of the new features … I didn’t get NG installed since (1) I’ve only got 2 gigs memory, and I understand that 2.5 is the minimum for x64 systems, and (2) my BIOS doesn’t support VM setup, or at least I can’t find the setting for it.
If you’re seeing popups it’s your imagination. You’ve probably gotten so used to them that once they stopped,
you still think they must be there, you think probably just missed them…
Not seeing any streaming updates but have a whole slew of VPS sub-folders in the …\avast\defs folder - house keeping has just kicked in and removed one of those listed in the image. Making the defs folder 160MB rather than 240MB previously.
EDIT: Checking my win7 netbook also with 10.0.2206 and that has received 281 streaming updates in the last 24 hours.
Why this would be the case not getting them on XP and getting them on win7, with both connecting through my router.
Streaming updates were definitely erratic for me yesterday. However, today both VPS and streaming updates are functioning correctly. It’s likely that some of the update servers had a problem.
Been there done that and no change, no streaming updates since the 10.0.2206 release when viewing Historic Data - it is just strange it works on my win7 netbook but not on winXP.
No it went through from beta1 (install over the top) to RCs and no problem with streaming updates, it has only been screwed up from the RTM update from the UI. Everything else is fine, with exception to hardened mode exclusions, which haven’t worked for ages as others are also reporting.
I’m not ready to go down that route yet - I have been hoping for some avast input if they want any logs, etc. - these would be wiped out on a clean reinstall.
