Streaming is OK down here in the South though.

Mine aren’t slow. They are nonexistent.

Edit: my current streaming updates is 160 ;D

Guys the more you watch something the more chance you have of seeing something that you think isn’t right. I keep my nose out of the logs, etc. unless I get errors displayed to the screen and let avast get on with it (life is too short to worry yourself into an early grave).

The only time I check the streaming updates is when one or more start banging on about it and it appears to be doing its job when I check.

EDIT Typo

how do you guys discover this… do you sit and look at the avast gui all day or. ;D
i install and forget, and only notice if thete is a error popup.

Yeah a guess. Like you I don’t pay to much attention at streaming update. Only on others stuff that require attention(infections/errors).

@Davidr your right and you do have a point their I guess it time I should stop worry about those logs & etc to much otherwise I’ll turn myself into a bloody hair ball on the top of my crown, I know and deep down Avast it doing their job behind my laptop computer as the same goes for my Outpost Pro the Avast streaming updates is doing great

Allow me to address comments and questions as to why some of us make such a big deal about streaming updates, which obviously, are a major component to Avast’s overall security strength. If you are lucky enough that you aren’t having problems, that’s great.

There is a large geographical area that receives updates through the same server(s) in the U.S. For whatever reason, this server fails frequently. Sometimes it’s a worldwide issue, but certainly our area in particular has more than it’s fair share of breakdowns. I’m not talking about a few minutes or a couple of hours, sometimes we lose streaming updates for 2, 3, 4 DAYS. In fact, as of right now, I’m experiencing no connection for the fourth day this week. Eventually a definition update will catch it all up, but in the meantime this large group of customers is not receiving the full protection that Avast advertises. If it’s important enough to stream an update, it must be important enough for our PC’s to receive it.

We also know that Avast either lacks the will or ability to monitor how well its servers are streaming updates to its customers throughout the world. Why can I say this? Because after one three (3) day period this winter of no streaming updates, an Avast employee finally came on here and admitted that they didn’t know it wasn’t working properly. So if a certain group of us doesn’t come on here “making a big deal” about the loss of streaming updates, time after time, how would the word ever get to Avast that their servers are down?

Hi Klinker,

There is an excellent option left for us all that is a manual check. Missed some update go from the 0 to 1 version by manual updating.
Also works for critical upodates, streaming and what have you?

Damian

Good advice Damien

I may be “Para-Noid” but I still feel that I should be getting the most up-to-date protection.
Until there is a remedy I can live with the regular vps updates.
