The avast 2014 virus definitions update stream (not to be confused with streaming updates) is different to avast 8 update stream. So it is entirely possible that they are out of sequence or you might get it later than avast 8.
That said the streaming updates in avast 2014 are very numerous and frequent, I have received 233 in the last 24hrs.
Since upgrading to 2014.9.0.2006 I am also stuck on 131027-0
I have had no automatic virus definition updates.
I have tried to get the latest definitions through the update option. Pressing the update button shows the first screen for about 3 minutes and then shows the second screen. Pressing OK shows the third screen. Screen prints attached.
This is happening on both my desktop PC and my laptop (both running Windows 7).
There is something definitely going on with the Avast servers. When I try to invoke a definition update, it will sometimes just sit there for many minutes and then tell me I’m OK.
Wanted to quote this so people know, DavidR is correct since this came up in a post a few days ago when someone was saying how their 8 had updated and 9 had not, I don’t know why it is but there did seem to be a delay explained in that 9 gets it’s definition updates after 8.
So i have to disable the Avast firewall to get my media server to work and now
the definition update is stuck 131027-0.
How many more glitches?Should’nt these glitches have been sorted out at it’s beta stage.
The short answer is until the VPS version is available on the avast 9.0 update stream/servers (you won’t be able to) you have the latest VPS version for for avast 9.0 131027-0.
Reading these posts about people hammering the update servers for apparently no good reason (posting about being “stuck” on defs update from Oct 27 on Oct 28 03:01:18, oh noes!), I’d hazard to say it’d be beneficial to eliminate the defs versions from the GUI altogether. They make very little sense with the streaming updates anyway.
Your avast defs are getting updates many times every hour, people! Just browse to the defs folder to see for yourself. Just chill and stop babysitting the thing when there’s no need!
OK - sorry - but I was concerned because I had not had any popups regarding database updates for a couple of days.
I have now looked at the defs folder and can see that I did not get any updates until about 4 hours ago. They are now being downloaded every few minutes.
Still no popups though - is this a different issue?
My knowledge of computers are very limited, where will I find the Defs Folder? I’ve looked everywhere I can think of, my PC still trying to update the latest version and has been for 4 days
Thanks Tech and Hillybop, I can see that I’m still haveing updates, but looks like I’ll have to put up with that damn popup “your latest virus update has not updated 9.0.1500”
