stuck with the Help screen

hi i have avast home edition installed,the help page that usually opens up when one opens avast was disabled and when i tried enabling it again,it got enabled but there is an error when i try to hide the window by clicking “Don’t Show This Window Next Time”
it says"

and i am not even able to see the avast picture that shows up on the bottom,
this is really getting annoying so please HELP!!!

You can edit the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\avast4.ini file using a text editor like notepad (save a copy to another folder before you edit as a back-up).

Find the [Simple] section and then the line beginning ShowHelpCheckList= the value there is likely to be set to 0 set it to ShowHelpCheckList=1. If the line doesn’t exist create it after the [Simple] line, Save and Exit. Try opening the Simple User Interface again and see if that suppresses the Help Check List pop-up. Restart avast if it doesn’t.
