For example, lets say I receive a malicious link in my email.
I usually go to the site, download the malware (usually trojan banker) and test if avast detects it or not.
If its not detected, I sent the file to Alwil so they can include in their database.
However, I dont submit the malicious link to Alwil.
With this new feature in network shield, I was wondering if its worth to send the link to Alwil also?
Ps–> Keep in mind, that this kind of link (used for Brazilian Trojan Bankers) doesnt keep working for long time (max 2 weeks usually).
It certainly won’t hurt to use the virus(at)avast(dot)com address to submit the URL.
There doesn’t have to be a file attachment, I have submitted suspect sites where I felt that the web shield missed a detection this way in the past (pre the new Network Shield functionality).
The subject title would be different perhaps ‘Network Shield - Malicious Site - Undetected Malware’, etc. that should hopefully trigger some filters.
