I would just like to inform the forum that i have successfully installed avast 8 after experiencing issues before.Comodo seemed to be the culprit so comodo has been removed and avast is running sweet so far.

Bravo! I tried Comodo Firewall and quite a few issues. System lag, slow webpage loading and crash dumps.
CFW had a nice sleek GUI and could stealth all ports. Not enough good points for me. I’m back with Private Firewall. 8)
Nice to see you all have resolved any issues you have been experiencing.
FYI, I have been reading about incompatibility issues between Comodo and Avast for far longer then I care to remember.

Good to see I’m not the only one who had issues with Comodo firewall. I’ve dumped it and am currently using W7’s own firewall (I know, I know) with avast and it’s running great. 
Just an update on this.
I attempted a re-install of comodo firewall 5.12 and it is running very well with avast at the moment so god knows what happened before but the issue has disappeared.
