Sudden problem with Quicken & rundll32.exe

Just a few days ago, Avast One started giving me alerts every single time I would open Quicken from one of my three computers. I’ve never had an issue with Quicken in the past, and I seriously doubt that the same dll has become corrupted at the same time on three different computers. The alert says:

Threat secured rundll32.exe[10696] because it was infected with Win32:Malware-gen

and it’s in reference to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe

I made certain that the app was updated to the most recent version, as well as the most recent virus/malware definitions, but it didn’t seem to help any. I finally created an exception for this file on all three computers, but I hate doing that because it leaves me open if there were to ever be a real issue.

Has anyone else noticed similar problems with this dll in the past week or so?

Thanks.

Thanks. I’ll report it.

There is a topic about this as far as I’m aware, as far as I’m aware it has been reported.

I would suggest that you do a manual update of your virus definitions and see if it has been resolved.

As I’d already mentioned, I already did that. The app and the definitions are both the most recent available versions. Also, setting an exemption didn’t make any difference. I still get the error and I to start and restart Quicken 2-3 times to get it to start properly.

Hi,

Our virus specialist looked into this issue. It should now be fixed.

OK, it wasn’t as of yesterday, September 21. I’ll make certain that I’m current with the app and definitions again and give it a try.

Thank you!
