I’ve got Android 5.0.2 on my tablet Samsung galaxy tab 4 10.1 and AMS 4.0.8139 (151104-1).
Today I started to get notifications that AMS was stopped. Each time I send reports and I have already sent half of a dozen of them. How can I know what happens? BTW, when I look in the last action’s log, I see that the last thing AMS was doing before crashes is that it was scanning itself.
I’ve had exact same issue starting today on my android phone. It seems that when doing storage scan, Avast mobile gets gloomy and scan goes slower that normal. It seems to get stuck in a limbo scanning some files multipe times and then crashes. Anyone else having this?
I’ve been trying to do storage scans few time already but the problem doesn’t seem to be fixed itself. Sometimes when I go to send report, Google Play services stops working as well :o
I tried out new beta version by removing AMS from my device and redownloading from Google play, but I didn’t really like te new version, since I didn’t find any settings of running full scan (apps + storage) and it scanned only apps. I changed back to current public version but the original problem continues.
I have been using the latest stable release for a long time but the problem has started only recently. I can’t believe it is somewhere in the AMS. I guess it is somewhere in the virus definitions.
Hi, thanks for reporting it and giving us some details. The team is now working hard to fix it.
As hermansky suggested - feel free to check out the new Beta version in the meantime, it is becoming public very soon.
If the new configuration has been downloaded to your device (concerns majority of users), you should have no more crashes by now. You can find out by opening “About” and finding the configuration version - it should be 321 or higher.
If you have not got the new configuration yet, you can:
a) either wait for it to be downloaded automatically
b) clear the app data (your device’s Settings – Apps – AMS – Delete cache and user data) and get it automatically downloaded after reopening the AMS app
c) open “About” tab and tap 4 times on the middle part paragraph starting “Warning: this application is protected by…” (this enforces the new configuration download)
Hello again! I was wondering if there was a possibility that AMS would’ve caused my whole phone freezing, which happened few times in the day AMS crashes occured, but my phone has been working great again since AMS was fixed. :-\
there is really no way to tell without further information. But yeah, crashes and/or unexpected behavior of any app might cause a device to misbehave in various ways, security apps are no exceptions to this.
