It just came to me that it might be easier for a user to troubleshoot an Avast problem if the posts could be grouped together by the Operating System.
I have tried to use the Search function to seek out related problem posts, but the engine produces too many hits…many not related to the problem at hand. Too specific in the search box and you get nothing. Too broad, and you get everything! hahaha
Just a thought?
Anyone else have ideas on how to make searching for a solution easier?
Interesting idea, but since the bb program (YabbSE) doesn’t support this feature, we’re probably out of luck.
Anyway, this is a free forum in the sense that there is no form with mandatory fields in it (like OS, version of avast, brief description of the problem etc etc). It’s more like a chat then a knowledge database.
As for searching, there is one catch: the default period to search is just last 60 days (2 months). It’s usually much more reliable to include even old postings, so increasing the 60 value (in the bottom right corner of the Search form) usually gives much better results…
Techie, good suggestion but I think the users does not have to open new foruns if there is one with a related subject… The disavantage of grouping is that lots of problems occur in more than one OS :-\
No problem. Never looked at it that way. I get along just fine with the forum as is.
Technical,
Just any idea. All my problems seem to be fixed now.
AVAST running just fine after b280.
Thanks for the “search” tip. Glad to know that you have my back covered.
As always, thanks for your offer to help.
