not really get it. Why should avast! suggest an OS update? These are usually pushed automatically if not using a custom ROM.

Some average users refuse updates. It would be a courtesy to add that feature so those who haven’t updated know why avast isnt able to be installed. Unless you like people coming here asking a thousand times why avast wont work with their phone, when is could be addressed during installation. Many software developers have that during the install process, there’s no reason not to consider it

as long as the device is running Android 2.1, AMS and AAT will run fine (even though there might be some limitations on old devices). Also we, as an application, can’t tell if the device has an OS update available or not. Those are not only device specific, but also carrier specific and unless we could get a huge database with all devices x carriers, we just can’t tell.
And I actually wonder which Android developers have that, can you give me some examples?
