we are about to get the above mentioned program and will use it as email client. Can somebody tell me if it is supported for the avast virus software?

Most e-mail clients should be supported (generically, not by supporting them one by one) - but the only reliable way to find out (if it really applies to this particular one) is to try.
Where to get it? I suggest you use GOOGLE to find it or try download.com
