Avast has taken to flagging up a virus in System32/drivers TSIMSF5.sys, but there is no such file. Any ideas?
How do you know there’s no such file? Or, hasn’t avast! removed it already?
do you have a screenshot of the avast warning?

There’s nothing visible in Explorer and 2 rootkit detectors I ran yesterday didn’t find a hidden file (don’t have details as I had to re-install a backup and lost the bookmarks)

I’ll have to leave it for now - I’ve already lost 3 days’ work. I’ve a very strong suspicion that deleting this or putting it in the Chest is what has been screwing up two different types of Logitech mouse and a Toshiba touchpad on 2 computers for the last 3 days - it’s OK till I reboot, then no mouse.
Added Thursday: Just for interest - one computer had a non-working mouse and Touchpad - I reinstalled only this file from a backup and both worked.
