Hi I have one suspect problem.
In the last days, I had a virus attack on my computer.
I apparently solved the problem with Avast Real Time Shild and scanned with the programs (MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and SUPERantispyware) recommended to me on this forum in another topic (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=65508.msg553194#msg553194).
Now I have one archive 7z which I downloaded and vhen I try to move it in an other folther I see that error message:
Impossible move Animated_WIndows_Ligthing_System_-_Meshes_v5-3-5-19628 invalid filename or too long specify another file name.
But I Can delet it, and I did (Why I should change the name of an archive to move it around?).
Avast and the other programs don’t see nothing.
In an other case I have one archive 7z:
AWSLS_Chimneys515.7z and in this case is a major problem.
If I click the right mouse button on it I do not see the classic menu. I can only open it.
If I try to delet it deleting the folder that contains it, i reed this error message:
Impossible delete file … invalid filename or too long specify another file name.
But I can only open it and not change name or other thing. In it there is(if I open with WinRAR) a “sistem folder”.
Avast and the other programs don’t see nothing.
What I have to do? I don’t need this file but I can’t delet it. Avast and the other programs don’t help me.
Might be possible that the filename is really somehow strange (such as having a trailing dot, space… something like that) - and the usual tools are unable to work with it.
You can try the following (it should help us to identify the real filename): create a custom scan in avast! UI:
enter the folder where this file is located as the area to scan (don’t forget to remove the default “All harddisks” area)
check “Scan all files” on the same page
on the “Report file” page, check “Generate report file” and also all the checkboxes under “Reported items” (especially “OK files”)
Now, run the scan - and post the created report file here.
If I scan with Avast again, with only the folder selected and “open all archive for scan” selected I see this report (for 1559 file):

I opened Malwarebytes and selected More Tools and File Assassin, after, I open the folder where the archive is but I cann’t select it.
I have only the option “open” like a folder and if I click on Open I reed the error message:
AWLS_Chimneys5157z invalid name
OK, the problem is not in the filename itself, but simply the path is too long (when you count the parent folders as well).
Most programs cannot access the file if the total path is more than 260 characters long - and in your case it’s 274 (not sure how you manage to create that). avast! can access the file without any problems, but since it doesn’t find it infected, it won’t offer you the “delete” action.
So, I suggest simply to rename the parent folder (could be just temporarily) - i.e. if you rename that “le finestre si illuminano di notte e i camini fumano” folder to something short (say “x”), you should be able to work with the file inside without any problems.
Ok I try to rename the folder to X and successfully, now my Pc read the file like an archive, what do you suggest now?
The only problem was that? The character length of the route? Or I have to delete the archive?
