I booted my computer today with no issue, except it froze upon booting before loading most of my startup applications. I did a forced reboot and didn’t think much of it, and then noticed that avast! was off just an hour or so ago before going to bed. A scan with MBAM didn’t pick up anything and avast! will not turn on, as it says that the service is offline. I can’t manually start it, nor can I scan with avast! as I receive the error “There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint manager.” I’ve seen other people with this issue, but not in this forum, so I figure a new thread would be acceptable. MBAM log is attached, the rest of the request logs will follow shortly.
AdwCleaner log is attached here.
I think your problem is not a Rootkit or Virus. from your attached logs, there are no found malwares. try checking your BIOS first. choose Load Setup Defaults. then Exit Saving Changes. go to the normal process of starting your windows. run a System Configuration. from there, check what’s going on with your Startup programs.
I’ll try reinstalling avast! after the OTL scan finishes (taking its bloody time, full 1TB HDD >_>), I’m inclined to agree, I think I just panicked a little bit searching for a solution and finding other people having the same problem with a rootkit. Then again, the same person originally reporting the issue didn’t have any malware found by MBAM or AdwCleaner, I’ll wait for some more results.
And finally, OTL logs.
malware removers are notified, check back later today
Thanks, Pondus. Also, aswMBR logs attached. I’m going to try uninstalling avast with the cleaner and reinstalling, will post results.
And probably the final update for tonight. avast! successfully reinstalled via safe-mode, is properly running. It could have been something just went wrong with avast!'s service, but I’d appreciate an expert’s assistance in looking over the logs anyway to make sure I’m clean.
The logs look OK no apparent anomalies with the services and no malware that I can see. Is everything back to normal now ?
I started a scan after reinstalling avast!, it was still in progress this morning. Everything else seemed to be working properly, and nothing I noticed was out of the ordinary. I’ll check the scanner when I get back from classes this afternoon, sorry for causing any trouble. I use my computer for a ton of schoolwork, and seeing other people with avast! being shut down by virii made me panic some. Thanks for looking over the logs.
Always better to safe than sorry, I do not mind looking ;D
avast!'s full system scan didn’t pick up anything. Coupling that with nothing in the logs, I think the service was corrupted or otherwise had some screws loose when my computer froze on boot, and I think I’m clean. Thanks for the help and quick response, I definitely know where to come if I ever need you guys again. Hopefully I won’t need to, though!
Run OTL and press the cleanup button to remove it, delete aswMBR from the desktop, for AdwClear run and then press uninstall ;D
