Lately, my PC has slowed down considerably. I did multiple boot time scans with Avast Home Edition and nothing came up. Nothing including the scan results which made me very suspicious. I did scans with Kaspersky’s Online Scanner, Eset Online Scanner, Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Spyware Terminator, and Spybot (making sure all were properly updated) and they all came up clean. Then a yellow triangle popped up in my system tray and keeps coming back, but all of the above programs still did not detect anything amiss. Also, when I opened Windows Explorer some of the text was in Chinese and Firefox began crashing. I just ran Smitfraudfix, but the triangle is still there and my browser keeps crashing (Although the Chinese is gone). How can I get Avast (or any other program) to detect it so I can quarantine it? I’ve spent hours just scanning with all these programs and I am really frustrated so any help would be appreciated.
Are you getting any pop-up alerts saying your system is infected or at risk, etc. as that would indicate a fake security alert.
Though I would have thought MBAM would have been all over that like a rash, did you run it from safe mode ?

Download and run HJT and post the contents of the log file (cut and paste or attach the log file) into this topic, you may need to split it over two or more posts depending on how large it is.
I suggest:
- Clean your temporary files.
- Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
- Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
- Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
- Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
- Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
- Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
- Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
No, I’m not getting any popups just a popup noise and the yellow triangle appears in the system tray and then disappears and comes back seemingly at random. I did not run Dr. Webcureit or Malwarebytes in safe mode, but I will try them. I did 1-4 on the list; the rootkits came up clean, the anti-malware programs came up clean. I also went through the Hijack log and googled every entry; they all seemed to be legit, but then I am not terribly knowledgeable about computers. I had an earlier problem with i-frames which I posted about here (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=43169.msg361028#msg361028) , so I am hoping I wasn’t infected then or I will lose all faith in NoScript+Firefox.

I ran all the necessary updates, but Secundia is still listing Adobe Flash Player 9.x (9.0.124.0), Sun Java JRE 1.5.x / 5.x (5.0.60.5 and 5.0.90.3), and Macromedia Flash Player 6.x (It’s still listing two of these) as insecure applications. I also ran a Dr.WebCureit scan which found nothing. Should I go ahead and immunize with Spyware Blaster or wait until I am definitely clean? Also, I uninstalled IE by unchecking it in the “Add/Remove Windows Components” section in the control panel a couple of months ago; hopefully that did not cause problems.
You should (I believe) find the old JAVA versions in windows add remove programs.
Have your symptoms gone, e.g. no yellow triangle, etc. ?
If not then I would wait on the immunisation as it could be actually locking in something it would otherwise immunise against.
So far Firefox has stopped crashing and there is no sign of the dreaded yellow triangle, but it has disappeared in the past for a while so I will wait to immunize. Thanks for your help, I was quite frustrated and never want to see anything yellow on my desktop again. 
When I started up my computer this morning the yellow triangle popped up again! Overnight I did a safe mode scan with Malwarebytes and it also came up with nothing. Is there anything else I can do?

Other than these I don’t see anything obvious, so if you can capture a small image of the yellow triangle, perhaps someone may recognise what it is associated with.
You really need to sort out the firewall issue as that can help prevent malware being downloaded again.
- There are many freeware firewalls such as, Comodo (care required now it is a suite not to install the anti-virus element), PCTools Firewall Plus, Jetico, etc. - Zone Alarm free works fine with avast and has a reasonably friendly user interface, however, the free version is becoming bloated with trial ware and is also crippled as far as outbound protection goes In the Program Control, configuration area, the slider will only goes as far as Medium protection, if you want more you have to buy the Pro version.

This thread was something else. “Low Virtual Memory” Can not believe computer and software makers !!! My Old ME system tell’s me In plane english. Recourses Low (system Tray), why not the same with virtual mem. :o
