Windows 7 Professional (32bit), Avast Free Antivirus, the latest version.
This just starting happening today. After booting up I get the alert:
“Suspicious file detected”
“explorer.exe may be harmful to your computer”
“What would you like to do?”
“[DELETE] [MORE OPTIONS]… [Ignore], [Create Exception]”
…
File Path C:\Windows\System32\explorer.exe
Detected by Anti-Rootkit Shield
Status Detected
(screenshot attached)
“Ignore” gets the same thing on next boot.
“DELETE” says it can’t do it…
Looks like this file is not used since Task Manager shows C:\Windows\explorer.exe.
Could not find any reliable info on deleting C:\Windows\System32\explorer.exe. It’s also an older version.
Would appreciate any information you have on this.
Thanks
