Suspicious file detected shortly after bootup

Today when I switched on my computer (which I left for several minutes before entering my username) the attached warning came up.

It says please allow the file to be submitted to the virus lab for analysis. There are two options, ‘ignore’ and ‘delete’ as well as the OK button. Which option will submit it to Avast? Or will both, but one deleting the file and one not. The application the file is in is not a few one. But as it is to do with online banking security, I want to do it right.

Please advise. Thanks.

as i can see it ignore/OK the file will then remain on your computer and also sendt to avast! for analysis

OK thanks. I’ve done the ignore/ok thing. Well see tomorrow what happens.

I thought if you clicked on the “Advanced” button on the bottom of that page it gives you more options.

@ rob24,

Did you get a pop-up that your suspected malware will be uploaded to Avast during the next virus definitions update when you clicked on what ever you clicked?

You most likely will not hear back from Avast but instead if they detect an unknown malware they will update their definitions to detect it assuming it was actually sent to them.

Also, if you have not turned your machine off, you can also right click your Avast tool bar on the bottom of your monitor > “Show last pop-up message” if you ever need to see it again…but this won’t work after rebooting.

The ‘Advanced’ button only gave the option not to have these warnings again.

No I didn’t get a popup to say the file had been uploaded to Avast, and I had chosen ‘ignore’ and checking now, the file is still there, with the original date.

I did reboot soon after, as a large Windows update came through that required a reboot. The PC gets switched off every night in any case.

Thanks anyway. There seems to be quite a lot of updates to Avast, so maybe one of those were as you suggest.
