A notice has come up on my screen entitled “suspicious files found” detected using heuristic method.I am asked to allow them to be passed to the virus lab for analysis. There is also provision to Ignore or Delete.
This is new to me,can anyone explain please? Which option should I take ? Thanks
The safer option is to select submit to the virus lab for analysis. That way you would help avast better detect the file.
Can you please post the file path where it was detected? c:\folder\xxx.xxx?
Can you manually verify whether the file is clean or not by visiting virustotal.com? - Click the browse button, browse to the path displayed in the alert, select the file. (If you cannot see the file in the path displayed in the alert, you may have to enable show hidden files options in folder settings via control panel.)

you choose send to lab and ignore, then the file will still be in your computer and not deleted.
If the analysis find that the file is clean it is to late if you have deleted it,
if it is malware, detection will be added and the file will be detected again this time with a malware name....and moved to chest
That is the anti-rootkit scan 8 minutes after boot, does that roughly match when it was detected ?
You should most certainly allow it to be sent to the labs for analysis. You should for the time being select Ignore, don’t check the option ‘Do not tell me about these files in the future’ you want to know want is going on within your system.
Sending the file to virustotal I feel is a wasted journey as it is detected by the heuristic methods of the anti-rootkit scan, which aren’t present on the on-demand scan of virustotal.
