I have been getting alot of suspicious alerts from my avast4 home trying to send mail out that i did not write i try and hit the don’t send button. I get any where from 1 to 30 within a 2 min. time span and i have yet to find out how to get rid of it. Does any one know how i can get rid of this piece of :-X
To be sure which application is sending mails, it will be good if you use TCPView from www.sysinternals.com
It’s a freeware that will show who is sending mails.
Other precautions:
- Disable System Restore on Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];310405
- Clean your temporary files.
- Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.
- Use a-squared, ewido or Spyware Terminator (trojan removers).
I tried to find the download at the first suggestion downloaded something but can’t find where it went on the computer. So did everything in the second suggestion. Ended up downloading a-squared, ran it, quarantined some stuff and at this time I am still being bombbarded by the message from my avast 4 home
Start Menu > Control Panel > System > System Restore tab
I know how to turn system restore on and off. What I meant was I went to sysinternals.com and tried to find the TCPView but found nothing so downloaded a thing they had toward the bottom of the page and I have no idea where this download went to.
It is http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html for the direct link.
On the home page you were looking at, there is a menu on the left and TCPView comes under Utilities, Networkimg.
Sorry, I`ve misunderstood you.
