When I startup my computer one of the svchost.exe runs in the 90’s cpu and the fan kicks in loud, i have to control alt delete it and end process it and a couple others sometimes. Its a older Compaq with Xp Home and with service pack 2 or 3. I have Comodo Firewall so that blocks most things. What can I do to get it back to running good?
How much RAM does it have?
What is the speed of the CPU?
Like 512 mb and 40 gb at 1.6 ghz with high speed internet
Please download HijackThis from the link below. Do not download HJT to the desktop but instead download it into it’s own folder on the hard drive.
Run the program but do not make any fixes and then post the log results using the “copy & paste” method. It will probably take more than one post to be able to get the complete log posted.
OR, you can post it as an attachment to your post by clicking on “Additional Options…” below left of the posting box. Someone will review your log and then offer help.
http://filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Is that an AMD or Intel CPU?
What type is it?
What is the high speed modem name and model number and does it have a built in firewall?
Its Amd with Comodo Firewall and maybe theres one with that Service Pak. Modems NetGear WPN824 and its connected by a cable to it. Ill do hijack report next.
The NetGear modem has a good firewall included.
AMD at 1.6GHZ and only 512MB RAM is quite slow especially with Comodo.
Try un-installing Comodo and make sure you reboot.
By the way having a software firewall is redundant if you know that the system has no malware.
Review the following video by a MBAM developer talking about system protection:
http://www.besttechie.net/2008/08/20/malwarebytes-developer-interview <== starting at about 8 minutes is the software firewall discussion
I do not run a software firewall but my systems are up to date and I run avast! and Avir AntiVir anti virus on different systems plus MBAM, Windows Defender and WinPatrol.

Please help me…
akhilcb, start your own topic as having two logs in one topic gets very confusing.
dx24, download MBAM then update it then run a Quick scan and let it remove what it detects and a reboot may be required to remove locked files:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Close all browser sessions then start HijackThis then select the following then Fix checked:

The Sun Java version you are running is down level and has security exposures.
Go to Add/Remove Programs and un-install all versions of Sun Java then reboot.
Download JavaRa:
http://raproducts.org
Run it to remove Sun Java remnants and download the latest V6 R11 release of the application.
Get the latest version of Sun Java:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Go to Secunia: Online Software Inspector and run it to detect other insecure applications:
http://secunia.com/software_inspector
There is still more to do but complete the above then post a new log.
