svchost.exe deleted some file, is that normal?

So, recently I made it so avast warns me if any file is ever deleted, renamed, etc.

While using comp today, svchost.exe tried to delete some file, I don’t know what it is but I think it was some .bin file(it didn’t show the full name or path name).

I guessed this is some normal process, so I clicked Allow but couldn’t remember what it said was deleted.

Anyway, is svchost.exe supposed to randomly delete some files or something? BTW, I scanned, nothing found.

svchost.exe is used by services (service host) to perform some actions, though I would be surprised if deletion was one of them.

Any idea what files (and location) was it trying to delete ?

Do a search of your system and report the locations of any svchost.exe files found ?
In the wrong location it could be malware and not legit.

Four files with “svchost” in the name, only one file is “svchost.exe”(which is the one that avast reported that was deleting a file):

_svchost14F83800
In - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SecTaskMan

svchost.bin
In - C:\Program Files\AIM6

SVCHOST.EXE-3530F672.pf
In - C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

svchost.exe
In - C:\WINDOWS\system32

Also I forgot to add in my first post - The file that was deleted was in a folder that had “Windows” in the name.

You only have one svchost.exe and that one is in the correct location dependant on your OS, I have XP Pro and mine is in the system32 folder as is yours.
