switching provider service

I am presently on d.s.l. service but intend converting to cable with a different provider very shortly. My question is, what changes will I have to make to my Avast settings once the conversion has taken place and will it be necessary for me to register anew?. Am registered for the free Avast service.
Thanking you in advance for whatever advice you can provide.

I don’t believe you have to do anything, cable, dsl is treated the same as an always on connection in the Update (connections). So if you didn’t have to make any special changes to get avast to work with your dsl subscriber then you shouldn’t have to do anything when you upgrade and you don’t have to reregister.

When the registration needs renewal (14 months, see about avast, Updates expiration) you just input your new email address when you register, avast! 4 Home Registration form and you will receive an email from register @ avast.com (without the spaces) with your registration key.

You may need to edit your Forum Profile if you need to change your email address, so you get notifications of topics that you have started or contributed to, etc.

Help please. My Avast! Home license is expiring and my email address has changed from the one I used 14 months ago when I first started. When I try to use my current email address in the renewal form, it is rejected as being not the address which matches my original. What do I need to do to renew?

Do not follow “renew” but say you’re a new user. Does it help?

I’m not yet sure…The question now is this:

Can I register as a new user and simply drop the new key into the existing Avast! installation?
-or-
Do I need to uninstall and reinstall THEN insert the new key?

You only need to drop the new key into the current installation.

Yes, that worked. Thanks very much.

No problem, glad I could help.

A belated welcome to the forums.
