Did a scan and this showed up: SysInft_16.dll Program Files (x86)Intel\Intel… Win32:Malware-gen. From what I gather the above has been in my PC since 2010 and it was never flagged before.
I think it may be a false positive but the avast scan did show it as a virus.
First time ever that something like the above showed up. Have been virus and F/P free for 10 years and therefore am a total noob in this.
Can you please confirm whether it is a false positive or a virus and what to do next? Thank you.

Thanks Asyn. When I submitted the F/P it was (in my local time) about 12:30 AM Friday morning. It says in the link that Rojan Piya provided and where I could reply to him that that particular link would be open for 48 hours only. So am worried that I won’t be able to reply to him if that link will be removed. Since this is my first experience with a F/P it gave me quite a shock. :o :o Never had a F/P or a virus showing until this one. Am in my mid seventies… and a real noob.
Thanks Asyn. Just now I did a scan and no new virus/FP showing up again so it must have been fixed? I still have that item showing in the virus chest. So my next question is: how do I remove it from the virus chest as there are several options available such as Delete and Restore. I don’t have a clue which one to pick. Or do I leave it well alone?
