Hi there.
New user here as well.
My problem is that every usv device that I insert on my PC, is presented as a shortcut, on which the path stated is “system32”. I have used the steps as noted on another post and i would like some help. I have attached the .txt files after the use of the following programs:

  1. ADWCleaner
  2. Gmer
  3. FRST.txt (2 .txt files)

Hi I am not sure if this is malware or a system error

Download MCShield to your desktop and install
It will initially run a scan and show the result as a toaster by the system clock
Then in the control centre select scanner and tick unhide items on flash drives

Plug in the drive and McShield will start a scan

Then get the log which will be located under the logs tab on the main page

And post that

THEN

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

CreateRestorePoint: Startup: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Start Menu\Προγράμματα\Εκκίνηση\i.lnk [2015-06-09] ShortcutTarget: i.lnk -> C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\obhfdbzxud.exe (No File) Reg: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Policy\Local /f Reg: reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Policy\Local /f RemoveProxy: EmptyTemp: CMD: bitsadmin /reset /allusers

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

Could you try a USB now and see if the shortcut is correct

Malware was found. I deleted the file suggested by MCShield. No stortcut this time, which is good enough by itself, but the pdf file i had in my usb device was a folder?!? with no name at all. When i opened that folder the .pdf appeared as usual. But due to the appearance of the folder thing, i suspect that not everything is quite good yet. Any suggestions? What should i do when I insert usb devices (My job is about printing documents etc. so everyday I insert all kind of devices on my PC)

Don’t mind my last post. Everything runs smoothly. I just inserted an already infected device.

Keep MCShield as you use USB’s a lot, this will save you some grief

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean :thumbsup:

Remove tools

Download and run Delfix
Select the options as shown

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Unchecky

Click on the link above to be taken to Unchecky.com
click the very large Download button.
click Save
Click Open folder
Right click on the Unchecky_setup and choose to Run as Administrator
Once open click the Install button.
Then click on Finish
Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked, this is a fire and forget programme :wink:

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.
