I have been using Avast for 2-3 years now. I like the software. Starting yesterday, after the new update 4.7.844 my Win XP SP2 crashes and does not respond every time IE6 or IE7 is opened. When I disable the On-Access protection everything works very well. No changes has been made to my system. It started doing this after the new update. The IE6 or 7 also works if I disable Script Blocking.
Please Help
Thanks
Hi DrV.
I am new here and just posted a question.
I used Antivir anti-virus for many years and suddenly have experienced similar problems to what you are experiencing with their latest releases and updates.
So, I just switched to Avast and so far have not seemed to have any problems.
But, it is interesting that you are now having problems with Avast.
I say this because I was on an Antivir forum and it was suggested that the problems users are having with the latest versions of Antivir are based in a Microsoft Windows problem.
I didn’t mention it in the new topic I just posted, but I was not only having problems with Antivir, but also some of the other tried and true “free” anti-spyware programs I have used with great success: Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware and Spyware Blaster. I may have just had problems with these because the Antivir was causing problems with Explorer, and nothing was working right.
So far, Avast seems to function well with all of the above and I am hoping I will be as happy with Avast as I was with Antivir until these recent unfortunate events.
I am new here too
And let`s face problems together~
