:-[ My system keeps crashing and today Microsoft says the antivirus software is the cause.
I’ve checked that the software is up to date. I do not have SP2 installed(waiting for the disc) lost everything when the system crashed completly last week, and was unable to get sp2 to download from the site.
Any advice would be great.

Any information would be good too ;D sorry couldn’t help myself. Your software most certainly isn’t up to date, even when you get SP2 there are many security updates that won’t have been installed because SP2 is a requirement. You can’t update IE6 to IE6 SP2 unless you have XP SP2 being just one example.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for the error and can you copy and paste the complete error text. ?
Commonly although windows says a program is at fault, the Faulting Application:, there is also and possibly the Faulting Module: This is often the true culprit and often this module isn’t an avast one, just that avast happened to be using it when it crashed.
