System Recovery for windows home edition 2003

Hello, I would like to know how to perform a system recovery in windows home edition. My mom and brother who do not live in the same city as me need the help. I would greatly appreciate any information.

Thank you and God Bless

Automated System Recovery (ASR) - In a somewhat controversial move, Microsoft has removed the Backup utility from the default Windows XP Home Edition,
though it is available as an optional installation and can be found in the /valueadd folder on the CD. Hope that helps.

More information on the computer needing the recovery would also be helpful.

So the option to do the system recovery is on operating system cd. I am trying to walk my brother through this over the phone ???. The problem with their computers is that one keeps cutting off and starting all over again and the other has some virus that is not letting them logged onto the internet. Therefore, I suggested for both of them to do a system recovery. I have done this in the past and it has helped when there are no other options. Also, their computers are older editions (2003) of windows xp. If there is anyway that someone can described it to me step by step I would be very grateful.

Thanks and God Bless

For XP, follow these steps :

Start > Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore > make sure “Restore my computer to an earlier time” is marked > click Next button > select a bold date > follow directions

I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help. I just had my family do a clean installation of windows. This allowed them to wipe the c drive out and have them start from scratch. Since the virus was making their computers slower and not allowing them to access any programs, I believe this was the only solution.

Thank you again
