(from another thread): >…Less RAM usage for my mate’s awful 32mb(???) RAM…
Hi. I heard about your AV program from cnet.com earlier today. I did look over your FAQ page and scanned the forum, but was unable to find the ,minimum/recommended system requirements for installation & running of avast!4. Also, can it be downloaded to one PC and installed on another, or is it an “active”-type installation where you have to be connected to the Internet from the PC you plan to install? The reason I’m asking is, I have an older pc that hasn’t been online in over a year; and with the recent virus and worm outbreaks (especially), I wouldn’t want to chance websurfing with no AV protection (well, I do have McAfee on that, but it is wayyyy out of date). It’s a 500 Mhz Celeron Pentium, with 64 MB RAM and running Windows 98SE…Is avast!4 compatible with that? I recall reading about some problems Win 98 users had with it; so was wondering how it works with older legacy-type systems. I’m planning to update it (it’s currently running I.E. and Outlook Express 5.5, I believe) then give it to a friend who is accustomed to using Norton. Thanks in advance for your help
the setup program is completely self-contained and does not need Internet connection to operate. Therefore you can download it on one machine, then take it to another and use it there.
A Win98-machine with 64M of RAM should be OK. For minimum system requirements of avast Home Edition, please refer to this page: http://www.avast.com/i_idt_1323.html .

You did not look carefuly enough :-)
Such things are indeed on our web: when you select the Products/Avast! Home and look into the lextbox, you will see the requested ‘System requirements’ item linked to: http://www.avast.com/i_idt_1323.html
