System restore broken?

I noticed 1 time when i gt about 30 passive viruses in my computer and i tried to restore it
It started to always say that Unsuccessfull restore and all…

HOW TO FIX IT??
::slight_smile:

Do you need to restore?
If any restore point is valid… well, I suggest you disable, then enable again, the System Restore feature. This will delete the old corrupt restore points and start again.

The problem is… i dont really know how to do that :-[

And i MUST restore asap :-\

But none of points is valid so what to do… ???

If not a point is valid, you won’t be able to restore regardless you want to do.
Only a full backup/restore will do it.

I suggest:

  1. Disable System Restore and reenable it after step 3.
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  4. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
  5. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  6. Make a HijackThis log to post here or, better, submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster or Windows Advanced Care.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

could it be Avast’s self protection preventing it from working as after I used Comodo Firewall (also with self protection) it failed to restore every time

This problem - avast self defense module preventing System Restore - was already addressed and it’s not more a bug/issue. It shouldn’t block any restoration.

I’m running Vista, and I’ve just noticed my system restore no longer works. I get No files changed Unspecified error. Could that be due to avast 4.8?
