System Restore Messed Up Anti Virus

ok this is wat i did

  1. Uninstalled Avast! and Comodo
  2. Installed an other
  3. Computer kept freezing every 20 mins in for some reason
  4. did a system restore

Comodo works fine
BUT
Avast! does not turn on
when i open avast it will not open coz it says some files are missing

when i try to uninstall i get a error message
it wont let me uninstalled

i tried to download avast setup and run it
it does the first thing with the green bar then it just closes

  1. So i cant reinstall
  2. Uninstall
  3. It wont turn on

i want to install Avast! again but uninstalling or getting rid of the messed up copy i have now

System Restore (SR) is far from perfect and there can be unexpected consequences of using it.

There are many, many reasons why a System Restore may fail. For example, see “Why are previous restore points not working?” in the “Troubleshooting” section of this official Microsoft page:

There’s lots more on that page that’s worth reading too. Note especially the sections on “Does System Restore protect personal data files?” (the short answer: no); “What should I do if System Restore does not work?”; “Why are my restore points missing or deleted?”; “Why does the System Restore Wizard lockup?”; and so on. Just a few minutes on that page ought to convince just about anyone that System Restore is not intended for heavy-duty system protection!

It may be that some files in the system32 folder belonging to avast were lose in reverting to an earlier date.

This is why I don’t rely on it, have SR disabled and have my own recovery plan/software hard disk imaging software.

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the latest avast! version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.
