:'Windows ME
I will have to do a system restore, because a mishap with Regseeker !!!. Will this not mess up the UPDATES for Avast ??? Thanks.
As far as I know, System Restore mainly targets executable files and dynamic link libraries (DLLs). Updates for Avast! should not be affected. However if the update was a program update (4.7 to 4.8 ), then the Avast! executables might be pushed back with the System Restore depending on when the restore points were made.
Thank You.
Did you not save/backup the changes made when you used RegSeeker (it is a default option I believe) ?
If you did save the changes you can click the Backup tab and restore the changes you made, see image.
Reversing the changes would be preferable to using system restore as it is notorious for its falibility.
Did a system restore just now !!, all seems ok, and got jpg’s back. Yes i did do a backup with regseeker. Could have done that to. again thanks to all :
Your welcome.
Take care with RegSeeker.
You can use Wise Registry Cleaner instead (http://www.wisecleaner.com/).
Always backup
Will check it out Thanks !! 8)
The issue should be solved in the latest pre-release build http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=34612.0
Can you please confirm?
Thanks

VIK !!! I do not have (Self protection) on my version of (home). for the up comming, newer version of Avast home. Here a gain I am lost because no one mentions what version they are talking about “HOME or PRO” or what version of Windows/or Other, they are running !!! I currently am running 4.8 latest up date, today. My system is windows (ME), and all seems to be working just right. What do you want ME to do ??? You did mention Home/Pro I believe, But I do not have Self Protection. (To disable) Thanks.
Home and pro contain basically the same providers (with one difference) and the same functionality. The major difference is in the OS as the older OSes (win9x and winME) don’t support some of the new functionality. If the new function isn’t compatible with the OS then that option will be greyed out in the settings display.
Whilst the Help file gives a brief description of the function, it doesn’t mention that they won’t be enabled in older OSes. The Help file needs to reflect the OS differences.
