system scan drive C DOSE NOT SCAN

when i run Avast to do a system scan it shows that the C drive is being scanned at the end of the scan i get a window telling me unable to scan anyone have any ideas why ?.

I think perhaps that your post may have been a little frugal on the details.

Could it be that when you perform a scan of your C: drive it runs for some time and then at the end it produces a report that tells you that some files could not be scanned?

Is that how it is? If not then perhaps you could give us some more details of how long it runs and the precise wording of the error message.

Please, go to the program settings and turn on the creation of the report file (with “OK files” to be included as well in the report).
This way, you can find out where the scan really stopped (it’s going to be close to the end of the report).

After avast! stops, check the end of the report file - the “troublesome” file is likely to be close to the end (close in the sense that this particular file will probably not be written in the report, but the previous one will be the last line, so it shouldn’t be hard to guess). We would certainly like to have this file - if it really causes problems to avast! - so that we could fix the problem.

The report file created (if you turned it on in program settings) will be (default location) at \Data\Report\Simple User Interface.txt

I looked at the settings and cannot see the turn on creation ok files ??? you mention what happens is when I do scan i tick all the areas i want to scan including C drive it then scans the files and THE C FILES AS IT shows on the interface of avast ???. if u want more info I will try to answer all questions.

I’ll try to post a screenshot. BUT, WHERE IS THE REPORT TAB OF SETTINGS :o :o :o :o :o
Alwil, where is it?

Just check ‘Local Drivers’ and nothing more…

I have been away so sorry in replying , in settings all my boxes are checked in Common are you saying I only have to check the boxes as in your last reply ? as shown?.

Hi,

I switched off also both enable skins check marks, cause skins are just for fun and colour.

They slow down things, even backround image on the desktop or too many sounds and colours.

Tech was suggesting that you create a report file by changing your settings to

Unfortunately he wasn’t able to post a screen shot of this because something is missing in his interface.

See if trying to scan the C: drive with the report option turned on will help you identify any problem files.

ok i’ll try that i have just posted another post of a virus found and unable to move to chest see posting and thank-you
