System Scan on Booting Up

Hi there,

I’ve just installed Avast and during the set-up I chose to run a system scan every time I start my laptop prior to Windows loading. I know I can just press the escape key to stop the scan, but how do I change it so that this doesn’t happen and I can choose to run a scan after Windows has loaded instead?

Well… it should be scanning just once and not every boot. There isn’t a persistent setting for this. How to disable scan at boot?

  1. Try to schedule again and you’ll be prompt for unscheduling.
    or 2. Use ‘Last known good configuration’ to boot XP.
    or 3. Could you please start regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager, select the value BootExecute and export it to a file? If you could post the file as an attachment here, I would like to check what could be wrong there.
