hai, i always have the problem lately ??? , my avast home always missing the sistem try icon (blue ball that spinning around) i try every thing from fix it until install and disinstall for 5th time but the problem still exist, i used avast in win xp pro sp2 i don’t know how i must to do >:(, any help please.
which tray icon do you mean?
the one with the “a” on it or the “i”?
any other security software? (antivirus, firewall)
which antivirus, firewall,… did you use before?
thank for the quick answer, the blue ball with ‘a’ letter that missing I still have ‘i’ letter but the blue ‘a’ letter is not there, i have also spyware doctor, but i turn of the windows firewall. please how can i fix it? thank’s
Do you see the following avast tasks running in Taskmanager?
ashDisp.exe
ashMaiSv.exe
ashServ.exe
ashWebSv.exe
aswUpdSv.exe
avast! icon missing - As a temporary measure until this is resolved you can create a desktop shortcut for this file C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe (the avast icon and interface to the providers). Right click on the file and select Send To, Desktop (create shortcut). You will need to run this after each boot until the problem is resolved.
What other security based software do you have that might block new startup entries, e.g. Spybot S&D (TeaTimer), AdAware (AdWatch), SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard or OnGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?
Check the option in the Appearance tab of Program Settings. Or Make a link to ashdisp.exe in your startup folder.
yes i see it all in task manager, and i have it too in desktop icon but just sistem try icon that i didnot have it’s so strange, and yes i have spyware doctor
Ensure that the Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard or OnGuard) isn’t blocking the ashDisp.exe startup file that is the avast icon.
