System virus?

Name: A0004486.exe
Location: C:/System Volume Information/_restore{30E38546-12A9-4BD2-8CA8-D477591AE521}/RP40
Virus: Win32:Trojan-gen

Right now, its in the virus chest. Should I keep it in there, or delete it. I don’t know if I should delete it, because its in system volume information. So what should I do? Also, two different scans found the SAME virus, same location too. I just did another scan, and it didn’t find anything. ???

As you have probably worked out, this detection is in a system restore point. There is a small chance it is a false positive. On the other hand that doesn’t really matter, as the worst case scenario for deleting it is that the particular restore point will not work.
If it was not deleted or quarantined, however, the worst case scenario becomes a little different, in that if that restore point is actually selected during a system restore, the malware could be released and run on the computer.

It seems a no-brainer to me. It can be deleted.
There is no pressing need to delete it; nothing can get out of the chest unless the user releases it. It’s just that in this case, there is no point keeping it. You are probably not going to need that restore point, and investigation of the file would be difficult, at best, should you be curious as to its source.
