Hi, been having a problem with my Acer laptop running Windows 7 64. I can’t get into windows, it hangs at the windows logo and when trying to get in using safe mode it stops after it has loaded aswRvrt.sys. I have tried running a windows 7 repair disk but can’t get anywhere with it. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 live CD to write this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
EDIT- Read on another thread about FRST so going to run that now and I will post a log soon.
EDIT2 - No luck with the FRST, couldn’t load it. Just went back to Windows Error page. Maybe I did it wrong? I just put the file on a USB and booted it, the screen went black for a moment but then back to the usual page offering me startup repair.
In the next menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Command Prompt and press Enter.
[*] In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
[*] When notepad opens, click File and select Open.
[*]Select “Computer” and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
[*]In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter.
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
[*]The tool will start to run. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach it to your reply.
I followed the instructions above and after clicking “repair your computer”. It shows blue desktop background screen with a bird and some leaves but no options to click anything. If I press enter the blue wheel spins but nothing happens.
